Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I am happy to play for a variety of occasions as beautiful harp music adds to every event. Wedding ceremonies are a flat $450; my rates for hourly performance are $250 for the first hour and $150 per additional hour of playing time. (Christmas rates are higher because it is a high-demand season for harpists.) Please note a minimum deposit of 25% of the total amount is required when the contract is signed and certain circumstances may generate moderate additional charges.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I happily work with new customers through email, phone conversations, or video calls to iron out details of what exactly the customer envisions and to select the perfect combination of music for their event.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been a harpist for over fifteen years, studying with both the harp instructor at Queen's University and the principal harpist of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. I have played with a myriad of ensembles at the University of South Carolina and worked one-on-one with composers to craft their harp parts.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve worked with many different types of customers—individuals, couples, music directors/conductors, event venue coordinators, churches, nonprofit organizations, and companies/businesses. My customer is anyone who needs beautiful music for an event!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Think about the ambiance you want to create at your event! What style of music will make you the happiest? The more you can tell me about what you're looking for, the better I can suggest selections that will add the exact charm and beauty you desire. If you are specifically looking for a harpist, it’s incredibly helpful if you include it in your first message/request on Thumbtack since “strings” is such a broad term that doesn’t detail if what you want is any string musician or specifically the wonder of a harp.
